NEW MUSIC|SURAJ WAWERE

Wawere is the debut single released by Kenyan house producer @surajforreal, Suraj Mandavia. A slab of progressive afro-house that conjures up visions of the vast vistas and precipitous drops of the Kenyan Rift Valley, it samples a Dholuo vocal riff from renowned Luo singer Olith Ratengo. This is a respectful blending of contemporary house music production and more traditional musical and cultural elements and is very much in line with Suraj’s ethos, looking to progress the Kenyan electronic music scene without forgetting where it is based. Fecko And Teck-Zilla – The A.R.T EP

The female soulful, hook-line that disses the fakers keeps this little number in your head and that’s no bad thing at all! The EP, aptly titled A.R.T, an acronym for “Afrobeat, Rhythm & Truth”, is a Fela-inspired project, that fuses…

Ambassador for Sade

Ambassador for Sade

Written by Isidore Noel Sitting at a friend’s barbeque the other day, I almost missed the opportunity to meet someone who at that moment appeared awkwardly quiet. It was easy to dismiss Andre Pilz as someone who is too shy to interact with others. Surprisingly though we ended up talking and he started telling me about his past and present which, I found incredibly fascinating. My interest was caught when he asked me if I know Sade. Having been a lover of Helen Folasade Adu’s music since I first heard…
