Spoken Word: Synik – The Sayer

Fresh African Hip Hop from Zimbabwe: Check out this Spoken Word piece by Zim MC Synik titled “The Sayer”. The piece depicts a figure of legend, The Sayer (in modern terms, the MC) in a world where his gift is required by the masses in the face of widespread evil and destruction. It also highlights some of the elements of Hip Hop culture (Deckspinners/Beatmonks/The B-Clan/Scribes). As Synik puts it: “It’s a visual poem inspired by postapocalyptic films and the underground Hip Hop movement (and a little by Anime as well) and it draws the audience in to a fictional world, which is an analogy of the underground Hip Hop movement.” Peep >>>
