Good People. Even though a lot of popular African music you hear of late is dominated by theAfrobeats and Afrohouse sound there is a plethora of music to discover out there. Here is a repost written by DJ Bizzy and originally published on his blog with his three examples.
Hey, just wanted to drop a quick post for the un-initiated ‘NOT ALL AFRICAN MUSIC ARTISTES PLAY OR PERFORM AFROBEATS, AFROHOUSE (aka South African House)’ or similar rhythms loosely based on those two genre’s. Just recently noticed the wrong assumption from some who seem to think this way so this is a two-pronged post to ‘dispel that myth’ & also at the same time ‘introduce & show 3 different Artistes with varying individual styles who are definitely not classed as Afrobeats or Afrohouse. They might be influenced by the Genre & even sample bits of it but not your typical Afrobeat Sound.

Sultry Ghanaian songstress, Efya, has released a free mixtape which is available for download on her newly revamped website Efyasworld. The mixtape titled, “This Is Not The Album” (TINT) is a 14 track list and features all her award winning and chart topping songs including the effervescent track, ‘Best of Me’ and the upbeat “Get Away” just to mention a few.
